Opportunities From: House of Hope of the Pee Dee

Residents in HOPE Village occasionally need transportation to addiction recovery programs, appointments, etc. We need ladies or couples who are interested in providing transportation.

Specifics:
Pick up residents approximately 30 minutes before appointments.
Drive residents to appointments and possibly stay for the duration of the appointment; this varies.
Drive residents back to HOPE Village.
Must be a minimum of 21 years old and dependable.
Must complete volunteer onboarding requirements and vehicle use form.

What a great way to help the men! This opportunity was created for volunteers who have the talent for cutting and styling hair. A friendly, uplifting attitude is a plus! 

Haircutting students can apply with the recommendation of a teacher. Must be male.

This is an opportunity for volunteers to help by monitoring the cooling station for our guests during the heat of the day. The cooling station is located in Whosoever Church, which is adjacent to the Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter on Church Street. Duties include greeting and monitoring guests, passing out water, engaging in positive discussions, etc. Further instructions will be given upon arrival.

Hours are from 11 am to 3 pm. Guests will be able to check in to the shelter at that time.

Have fun while you and/or your group organize, process, tag, and sort merchandise before we take it to the sales floor. This is a much-needed opportunity and a great way to help the community. Other tasks may include tidying areas of the sales floor and other light housekeeping duties all while treating customers with respect.

If this opportunity interests you, please respond. You do not need to volunteer a full day, but please note the hours you would like to volunteer when you respond to the need.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to volunteer individually or 12-17 years old accompanied by a chaperone AT ALL TIMES. Volunteers younger than 12 are encouraged to volunteer by organizing a donation drive or volunteering with their families. 

We are in need of child care volunteers at HOPE Village so that our residents can attend Bible studies, devotions, job interviews, financial classes, etc. If you or your group are interested in helping in this way, please respond. Times vary but we are willing to work with your schedule for this very important need. Only one hour is needed for some of the events. Please email jedwards@hofh.org if you are interested. We ask that you respect the privacy of our residents by not sharing photos on social media. Thank you!

This is a great opportunity for you and your group to help our ministry by making beds, vacuuming, and cleaning the shelter in the mornings after guests check out. 9:00am-11:00am.

This opportunity is for men wanting to minister to residents at our Men's Life Recovery Program.  At this time we have a wait list but please respond to this need if you would like to minister to our residents.

If you or your group would like to bless our men at the Men's Life Recovery Home by providing dinner for them, please respond to this need. There are approximately 25 men in the program and they would greatly appreciate a homecooked meal!

Due to our residents' schedules, the opportunity for devotion along with a meal is only available on certain days and times:

Monday evenings, dinner at 6 pm. Feel free to come in and prep at 5:30. Most Mondays are filled.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings, dinner at 5:30. Feel free to come in and prep at 5:00. The dining hall will need to be cleaned up by 7 pm for a speaker on both evenings. 

If you or your group would like to only drop off a meal for the men, Wednesdays and Fridays are available at 5:15 pm. Saturdays are available at 5:30; the men have passes on Saturdays so there will only be an average of 15 men for dinner those evenings.

You would be supporting our ministry with a delicious meal that would be a special treat for the men! 

We are in need of a receptionist at the front desk of our Men's Home/Admin Offices. Tasks will include answering the phone and determining how to best help the caller, transferring calls to staff members or other facilities, and greeting visitors with a friendly smile and a willingness to help.  Volunteer hours are available Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm.
